LDA okays development projects

LAHORE – The Lahore Development Authority has approved construction of approach road from Gulshan-e-Ravi to Band Road , along Cantt drain, at a cost of Rs 60 million besides giving a go ahead for construction of a new link road from Bhogiwal Road to China Road, Gujjerpura at a cost of Rs 47.76 million.

These decisions were taken at the Governing Body meeting of LDA held on Saturday with District Coordination Officer and Chairman LDA Noor-ul-Amin Mengal in the chair.

LDA warns dodgy name users

LAHORE – Lahore Development Authority on Wednesday warned that the practice of using names of different government, semi- government and other departments by private housing schemes, majorly in advertisements, was illegal and was misleading people.

LDA has cautioned that P&D Fort, Planning and Development Employees Cooperative Housing society Phase-II was neither approved by LDA nor any application had been filed or submitted in LDA for seeking its approval. Planning and Development Department, Government of the Punjab, has also expressed its indifference with this scheme. Therefore, its sponsors were using the name of this department without any legal justification.

LDA informs all the intended buyers of plots in private housing schemes to buy plots only in the approved housing schemes as approval is granted after scrutiny of ownership documents, provision of public utility sites as per planning standards and other technical issues.

LDA further advises not to purchase plots in the illegal or unapproved housing schemes. They should verify the plots of even the approved housing schemes from the authorities concerned. Crackdown on illegal buildings continues in DGBT

LAHORE – Under the supervision of Data Ganj Bukhsh Town (DGBT) Administrator Saira Omer, DGBT Town Municipal Officer (TMO) Muhammad Arif along with Town Officer (P&C) Qamar Islam and a building squad demolished four illegal structures and sealed 10 unlawfully constructed buildings during this week.

The officials also lodged two FIRs against owners of illegally constructed buildings. The buildings which were demolished include three structures situated at Mall Mansion and the other one at Hall Road.

Furthermore, 10 sealed buildings include Raza Plaza Hall Road, Out Fall Road, Madina Plaza Band Road, Kausar Market Islampura, Chiragh Street McLeod Road, Abid Market, Sanda, Sagian Taj Company, Brandreth Road, Kacha Lawrence Road and Shamshad Market. Besides this, map fees worth lacs of rupees were deposited in national exchequer as well.

Also, following the direction of District Coordination Officer Noorul Amin Mengal, the price control magistrates on Wednesday conducted 269 inspections of different shops to check the prices of different edibles.

They challaned 66 shopkeepers over price hike and hoarding and imposed Rs 43,300 fine and got registered 7 cases as well.

Meanwhile, staff of the Town Planning Wing of Lahore Development Authority carried out operation against illegal constructions at three different places in the city on Friday and demolished a total of 15 structures which had been built at these places in violation of building bye-laws. Read more

Commercial demolition

LAHORE – Staff of the Town Planning Wing of Lahore Development Authority carried out demolition operation against illegal constructions at four different places in the city on Thursday.

The LDA staff demolished basement of plaza which was being illegally constructed on plot No 808 of Ravi Block Allama Iqbal Town. It also dismantled an illegal commercial construction on plot No. 905 of B-block, Faisal Town Moulana Shaukat Ali Road.

Developers directed to follow building rules

LAHORE Development Authority has warned developers and sponsors of all the private housing schemes in its controlled area for completing their schemes in accordance with the approved design and relevant rules within the stipulated time.

LDA directed them to complete it within the time of five years otherwise their mortgaged plots will be confiscated and auctioned for generating cost of completing development works.

The developers have been directed to get approved the designs for construction of infrastructure including roads, water supply, sewerage, electricity, Sui gas and horticulture from the department concerned within six months of the initial approval of the scheme. They have further been directed to execute development works strictly as per the approved designs and that too with the approval of the department concerned. The developers are also required to inform the relevant department in writing before initiating certain development work(s) so that effective monitoring of such work(s) could be ensured by the department concerned. LDA has warned that in case of failure of a scheme in execution of development works within five years or substandard development, LDA will auction the mortgaged plots for completing the development works in the schemes and additional cost will be recovered from the developers, if any.

Notice: Lahore Development Authority has given a final chance to appear before the competent authority, additional director general (HQ), LDA, within seven days to an LDA officer. Mujahid Hamood-ur-Rasool, assistant director (Engineering), LDA, was served show-cause notice on the allegations of non-compliance with transfer order. He was repeatedly asked to join the duty but he did not comply with the orders. He has been directed to appear before the competent authority along with written defence, otherwise, ex- parte decision will be taken against him.

Marriage hall sealed: Staff of the Town Planning Wing of Lahore Development Authority sealed a marriage hall in Garden Town on Tuesday.

Spread over two kanals area in Garden Block, New Garden Town, the marriage hall had been constructed without getting the building plan approved by LDA. Read more

LDA seals 30 showrooms in Samanabad

LAHORE

THE Commercialisation Directorate of Lahore Development Authority sealed a total of 30 showrooms, situated along the main road of Samanabad, on account of their failure in payment of commercialisation fees on Monday.

During a grand operation, the staff of the LDA decided to register criminal cases against the owner and tenants who would break the locks of sealed showrooms.

Earlier, the owners of these properties had repeatedly been served notices for depositing commercialisation fees and granted a number of relaxations in the time for payment as well.

For facilitating the calculation of the fees to be paid for commercialization of these properties with the LDA, the LDA staff had also measured the area of these properties which was being used for commercial activities by them.

Meanwhile, the Lahore Development Authority informed the media that permission for temporary/annual commercialisation has been ceased on 46 declared roads as well as roads of re-classification area of Gulberg Scheme from December 31, 2012. The owners of these properties have been served notices for getting these properties permanently commercialised without delay by paying the requisite fees. They had been advised to apply for permanent commercialisation of their properties within seven days, failing which their properties would be sealed without further notices.

Two LDA officers dismissed: Director General Lahore Development Authority Ahad Khan Cheema has dismissed two officials on account of their involvement in preparation of bogus property files of Mustafa Town, forged exemptions and illegal transfers of plots in the scheme.

LDA chief planner abuses power

LAHORE – Flagrant violation of service rules, nepotism and discrimination by LDA chief metropolitan planner were revealed by the sources on Friday.

They said the LDA is responsible for controlling over illegal schemes in the City, but its chief, Waseem Ahmad, is bent upon to violate the service laws in favour of his blue-eyed officer on deputation Khalid Hasan, a deputy director  on acting charge basis, in his parent department by maneuvering to get 2nd illegal extension in his deputation period. LDA demolishes infrastructure of three housing schemes near Ferozepur Road

LAHORE – In the on-going drive against illegal housing schemes in the city, Metropolitan Planning Wing of Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Tuesday demolished the entrance gates and boundary walls of three housing schemes near Ferozepur Road. The LDA staff demolished the gate, boundary wall and sewerage system of Ali Homes situated near Nigar railway crossing on Katcha Road.

Two gates and the boundary wall of Subhan Gardens, situated in old Kahna, were also demolished. Boundary wall, road and sewerage system of Akhterabad Housing Scheme, located in old Kahna, was also demolished by the LDA staff during this operation. According to LDA officials, the action was taken for the awareness of the general public so that they do not purchase any plot in the illegally constructed housing schemes.

LDA has advised the people to ascertain the legal status of a housing scheme or a plot therein before making any transaction in this regard. Read more

LDA demolishes 3 illegal colonies

LAHORE, Jan 8: The Lahore Development Authority’s (LDA’s) metropolitan planning wing demolished on Tuesday three illegal private housing schemes, says an LDA spokesman.

The officials demolished the gates, boundary walls, sewerage system and other infrastructure of Ali Homes at Nigar crossing level along Katcha Road, Subhan Gardens and Akhtarabad Housing Scheme at old Kahna.

The spokesperson said the action would spread awareness among the public about the status of housing schemes. He said the LDA had advised the people to confirm the status of private housing schemes from the LDA. LDA for case against housing schemes

LAHORE Development Authority (LDA) has submitted applications with police for registration of criminal cases against two approved private housing schemes in the City for illegally selling plots mortgaged with LDA.

The Metropolitan Planning Wing of LDA has filed two separate applications in Sattokatla police station for registration of cases against managements of the two housing societies. Sponsors of the two schemes had mortgaged 30 per cent saleable area of these schemes in favour of LDA as pledge for execution of development works and construction of basic infrastructure.

The managements of the two schemes cannot sell the mortgaged plots to anyone till these plots had been released by LDA. Read more
