RDA to launch operation against illegal constructions

RAWALPINDI  – Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has decided to initiate action against the owners of illegal constructions and buildings constructed without maps. Building inspectors of such areas where such constructions have been made will also be taken to task.

Director Town planning and Building Control Jamshed Aftab has set up a separate cell under the directives of DG RDA. This cell will undertake survey of all housing societies operating under the control of RDA and review commercial and residential constructions.

Notices will be issued to the owners of the building, which have been built against the approved maps or without maps. Penalties will be imposed on the owners in connection with regularization of constructions. Continue reading

Roads renovation on the cards

RAWALPINDI  – The Rawal Town Municipal Administration (RTMA) will undertake repair and maintenance of five main roads of the city with an estimated cost of Rs22.34 million.

Rawal Town Administrator Saif Anwar Jappa said that the 4th-B Road from Chandani Chowk to Saidpur Road would be expanded from 18 feet to 40 feet costing Rs12.34 million.

Median of the roads would have greenery and RTMA would also start beautification scheme for four main roads of the city, he added. He said that Rawal Road, 5th B Road, Saidpur Road and 6th Road would also be improved and turned into model roads.

He said a huge amount has been spent on rehabilitation and widening of roads and encroachment along the roads would be removed in Rawal Town. RTMA staff has been directed to start development activities including removal of encroachments, maintenance of green belts and median, removal of wall chalking and proper functioning of street lights besides covering of manholes, the administrator added.
