MBS to be inaugurated on Quaid’s birthday

LAHORE – The ongoing development work on the Metro Bus Service (MBS) has been accelerated on the directions of the provincial government and the project is likely to be inaugurated on December 25, sources informed TheNation on Sunday.

They further disclosed that the provincial government also took notice of the slow pace of work at some sections of the bus track especially at Ferozpur Road from Ichra to Qartab Chowk and directed the authorities to speed up work.

Talking to this scribe, Project Director Mazhar Khan said the pace of work on such an important section of the project was not slow in fact the issuance of grants of such specific portion was delayed on the part of the government caused holdup of construction work. Continue reading

Work on new Ravi bridge soon: CM


CHIEF Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that after the launching of the Metro bus service, inconvenience of the citizens will change into permanent relief while the critics will also be silenced.

He said the project would be a unique example of speed, transparency and standard. He said that while E-ticketing system would ensure charging of genuine fare, it would also introduce a modern transport culture. He said the poor had equal rights over resources and by spending billions on welfare projects, the Punjab government was upholding their rights. He was presiding over a meeting to review Metro bus project here on Sunday.

Shahbaz said every effort should be made for speedy completion of the project while every task should be completed within the timeframe at any cost. He said that no compromise would be made on the quality of the project and those responsible would not be spared in case of any complaint. Expressing dissatisfaction with the pace of work on the route of metro bus from Qaddafi Stadium to Ichhra, the CM said that work pace should be accelerated and completed within the stipulated period.
