LAHORE – A high-level meeting was held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif regarding Kalma Chowk Underpass Project during which the CM gave his approval for construction to be initiated immediately. Addressing the meeting, Shahbaz said for the first time in the history of the country, two underpasses of seven lanes will be constructed simultaneously. One underpass would be of three lanes, while the other would be of four lanes, costing over Rs. one billion, he said. He said millions of citizens would avail the facility of signal-free journey after the completion of Kalma Chowk Underpass. The chief minister directed making comprehensive arrangements to keep the traffic flowing during the construction of Kalma Chowk Underpass. He ordered increasing the number of traffic wardens for the convenience of citizens during the development work. Shahbaz further directed that machinery being used for the development work should not be placed on the roads, while round-the-clock work should be ensured to complete this project as soon as possible.
