LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday directed the federal government to take action against an estate officer for allotting government residences to private persons. The court issued the directive while disposing of a petition by Waqas Ahmad, a resident of Kasur. Fayyaz Ahmad, the petitioner’s counsel, said that estate officer Shabbir Hussain had allotted many houses in Wafaqi Colony to private persons.
He said the colony had been established for federal government’s servants but the estate officer took millions of rupees from private parties and allotted them the houses in the colony. The lawyer said that the petitioner had moved an application with the FIA for lodging a case against Shabbir Hussain Zaidi and former estate officer Shafqat Abbasi but no action was taken. He requested the court to direct the government to take stern action against Shabbir Hussain. staff reportSource: http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=2012\10\24\story_24-10-2012_pg13_3
