The Board meeting, which was presided over by NHA Chairman Muhammad Javaid Iqbal Awan, accorded approval for awarding work for construction of flood protection bund towards Garh Maharaja side at Sultan Bahoo Bridge across river Chenab linking Shorkot and Garh Maharaja for which Rs 150 million has been allocated for the year 2012-13.
The Board members also agreed for award of work for widening and improvement of Bosan Road Multan, Contract-2 (Package-II) construction of right turn flyover at Chungi No 6. The project will cost more than Rs 220 million. Various aspects regarding rehabilitation of Chakdara-Kalam road package-I, Fatehpur to Madyan, and Amri-Qazi Ahmad Bridge across river Indus connecting Karachi-Lahore-Peshawar National Highway (N-5) and Indus highway were also brought under discussion.
Matters relating to Hiran Minar Interchange on Lahore-Islamabad Motorway were also discussed. The cost of PC-I of this interchange is Rs 260 million. The Board also reviewed the affairs of construction supervision of Ratodero-Naudero Road and Hyderabad-Badin to Mir Wah Sanjar Chang Road. The Board was told that construction of bridge across Vadoor Nullah on Multan-DG Khan-Loralai-Qila Saifullah Highway will cost more than Rs 12 crore, 73 lac. Addressing the meeting, NHA Chairman said “our endeavor is to execute the NH&M projects in a professional manner with high standard of construction. In order to achieve this objective, co-operation and guidance of the members of NHA Executive Board is needed. All the resources will be utilised in the best possible way to complete the ongoing schemes as per schedule.” The senior officers from Finance Division, Planning Division, Ministry of Communications, NH&M Police, NTRC, Nespak and NHA participated in the meeting.
