ISLAMABAD – The Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation (FGEHF) on Thursday announced to start the much-awaited development work of Sector G-14 saying that the development contract of the sector had been awarded to a private construction company.
Director General, FGEHF, Mian Talat Rashid, informed this to the local administration at a meeting held with Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, Amer Ali Ahmed, to review the progress of development work of Sector G-14. The development of this sector could not be started by FGEHF since 2004 when it launched the sector due to the non-payment of the compensation money to the locals and the increasing encroachments in the area. FGEHF and ICT Administration have been blaming each other for the delay in initiating the development work for the last many years.
According to the spokesman of the administration, the Director General FGEHF briefed the participants and informed that the development contract had been awarded to M/s NCL and development work has been initiated at the site. He said so far two dozers, one grader, one excavator, two road rollers, three dumpers and two tractors had reached the site. Alignment of nullah in G-14/3 for re-routing has commenced. A road network of G-14/3 has been marked and stripling of street numbers 107 ant 92 is in progress.
The local administration through an official handout has said that representatives of the allottees had appreciated the efforts of the Islamabad Administration saying finally they had reached this stage where not only development work had been awarded but the development had been started too. The Deputy Commissioner has asked SSP Islamabad Yasin Farooq to immediately establish a police check post so that no one can create hindrance in the development work. He further directed that cases should be registered against anyone who violated the law or interrupted the activity of development work.The Housing Foundation was also asked to further strengthen their site office and the officials deployed there should submit daily progress report of on-going development work to Director General, Housing Foundation.
Directives were also issued to District Collector and Land Acquisition Collector to complete the remaining pending matters in the process expeditiously and all actions taken by the Housing Foundation and Land Acquisition Collector should be transparent and accessible to the allottees for their information. It was also decided that meetings of allottees and Director General, Housing Foundation would take place twice a month to review the progress of on-going development work.
