CDA chief calls for steps to facilitate taxpayers

ISLAMABAD – Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced five per cent rebate on payment of the property tax and other allied charges before September 30, 2012.

The offices of the Revenue Directorate of CDA would remain open on Saturday and Sunday, despite holidays, to facilitate the taxpayers, on the direction of the Chairman CDA Engineer Farkhand Iqbal. Chairman CDA Engineer Farkhan Iqbal while presiding over meeting regarding tax recovery directed the formation of the authority to expedite the tax recovery including the property tax and other allied charges before the fix date.

He said that CDA was committed to serving the residents of the Capital city and they must be facilitated by making special arrangements at the recovery desks of the Authority. He directed the Revenue Directorate to issue the duplicate bills to the taxpayers in case of non-receipts of the original bills.

He was apprised that arrangements had already been finalised in a bid to facilitate the taxpayers on the official holidays falling on September 29th and 30th 2012. CDA has requested the taxpayers for timely payment of the property tax and other arrears to avoid the monthly surcharge at the rate of 1.5 percent.

Chairman CDA Engineer Farkhand Iqbal said after recovery of taxes, CDA would be in position to bring improvement and quality in provision of basic civic facilities in the Federal Capital.

Meanwhile, in the backdrop of directions recently given by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) regarding non-adjustment of advance payment made by CDA for shifting of utility lines, a meeting held here at CDA headquarters. The meeting was attended by the representatives of IESCO, SNGPL, PTCL and NTC with CDA Chairman in the chair. In the meeting Member Finance presented the details of project and deposited amounts. Chairman while addressing the meeting informed that due to non-provision of expenditures statements of respective departments has resulted in this Audit para, which now need settlement.
The representative of each company assured the chair that they would provide detailed statements along with final bills within week a time to help quash this para.
