Two more LDA teams for anti-dengue spray

THE Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has constituted two more special teams for carrying out anti-mosquito spray along the route of the under construction Metro Bus System in the city. A total of three teams will now work for preventing the growth of Dengue larva at these places.

Director DG’s HQ Fawad Aamir disclosed this during an inspection tour of the Metro Bus System’s route on Thursday. Entomologist Manzoor Ahmad also accompanied him during the visit for supervising the spray being done by the LDA’s team.

Fawad Aamir informed the media that two teams would execute the spray in the area where an eight kilo meters long bridge was being constructed while the third team would spray in other areas.

The pile work, being done by digging deep holes in the ground, requires continuous supply of water for softening the earth. Therefore, water is supplied nonstop to these holes through pumps. Its delivery and drainage is regulated in a cycle. Since this is flowing water, dengue larva cannot breed or grow in it.

But as a precautionary measure, spray is carried out in this water as well. The Lahore Development Authority is taking all possible steps for combating the menace of dengue in the city.

On Thursday, Ijaz Mehmood Ch has been appointed as Director Law, LDA, and assumed the charge of the said post. Muhammad Rashid, Deputy Director Law, working as Director Law, has been relieved from the charge of the post of Director Law, LDA.
