The firework was displayed exactly at 12 am, which greatly attracted the people. A simple but attractive ceremony was also held in which famous singers presented the national songs. Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira was the chief guest on the occasion, who appreciated the efforts of CDA and its Chairman Farkhand Iqbal for holding this colorful ceremony.
The people in large numbers thronged the park along with families to witness the display of firework. The CDA Chairman, speaking on the occasion, said that the authority had made comprehensive arrangements for celebrating the Independence Day in the capital.
The colourful event in the Fatima Jinnah Park marked with display of the fireworks has been participated by the hundreds of thousand people from the Islamabad and other areas of the country, which speaks for national unity, he added. The Chairman CDA said that all the major buildings of the capital had been illuminated and the roads decorated with banners, streamers and other material reflecting the national integrity and jubilation. He said that the Independence Day calls for a commitment to work with more dedication and passion for making Pakistan a modern welfare state.
He said that the present CDA management was focusing on the revolutionary measures which also include the making Islamabad a loadshedding free city by setting up an exclusive power house.
Meanwhile, last weekly bazaar before Eid holidays would be held on Friday in the federal capital and there would not be such bazaars till August 25.
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) weekly bazaar officials on Tuesday told APP after Eid holidays (August 20-22) first weekly bazaar would be held from August 26 at different sectors including G-6, G-10 and H-9. It may be mention here that the weekly bazaars provide all kind of edible items and other necessities in weekly bazaars.
There are all kinds of commodities and different stalls including vegetable, fruit, essential items, foot wears, garments, new as well as second hand, carpets and decorations pieces, crockery, fish, chickens and eggs have been established to facilitate customers.
