Transparency International Pakistan has calculated that doling out of 600 kanals of land to Bahria Town free of cost would result in a loss of billions of rupees to the national exchequer. In a letter sent to the Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Farkhand Iqbal on July 21, TI Pakistan’s Adviser Syed Adil Gilani termed the allegation a collusive practice and asked the Chairman CDA to examine and let TI Pakistan know whether this report was true or false.
“In case it is true, CDA has committed favouritism to a builder, M/s. Bahria Town, against whom CDA had itself advertised that it is raising an illegal building in CDA premises.” Adil Gilani warned him that CDA was not authorised to dole out land free of cost “as has been alleged by Senator Kulsoom Parveen”.
