Islamabad High Court (IHC) judge Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui has directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to produce details pertaining to the signboards before the court in the public interest petition of Advocate Jehangir Khan Jadoon who had applied before the court for removal of encroachments from Islamabad.
The petitioner while talking to this correspondent said that the court has expressed its dissatisfaction over the report submitted by the CDA officials with photographs and video clips where they had been removing encroachments.
The IHC bench said that in the photos and videos, CDA officials have been removing the poor makeshift stall vendors asking why they did not tried to remove encroachments at the road in front of the Serena Hotel and the encroachment made by the FIA. Why the CDA is hesitant to take action against the bigwigs said the IHC bench, the petitioner said.
On the last hearing director enforcement of the CDA had appeared before the court and told that they had confiscated 4,000 items from the encroachers during the last six months and fined them to the tune of Rs2 million. The court had directed the CDA to remove driveways and chairs of fast food chain companies that may be encroaching upon the public place. The petitioner stated that there have been massive encroachments in all markets of Islamabad causing difficulties for the shoppers. The encroachers have covered the parking areas and public places while the CDA is not initiating action against them.
