BESIDES taking action against the permitted private housing schemes for their violations of approved scheme plans, Lahore Development Authority has also launched an operation for checking quality, volume and pace of development works being executed in these schemes.
Staff of the Metropolitan Planning Wing of LDA has started inspections of development works being undertaken in the private housing schemes for ensuring execution of these works according to the specification.
The LDA staff inspected various private housing schemes in the presence of their developers and collected a minimum of 15 samples of material being used in the construction of roads and other infrastructure for analysis. Developers of the private schemes, located within LDA’s controlled area, have been directed for taking all possible measures for the earliest completion of these works according to the approved plans otherwise the plots mortgaged by them with LDA, as guarantee for completing development works, will be auctioned for generating revenue for this purpose.
Meanwhile, LDA has informed the general public not to purchase plots in the schemes that have not been approved by LDA. Illegally extended areas or additional blocks which are not part of the approved layout plan of approved housing schemes and mortgaged plots should also not be procured. They have further been advised not to make any transaction for the plots illegally carved out by the sponsors of private housing schemes in the sites reserved for constructing public utility buildings like schools and dispensaries, parks and open spaces as well as the land earmarked for graveyards.
Applications: LDA has invited applications from individual consultants having relevant experience for construction of a community centre at Garden Town, Lahore. Candidates having bachelor degree in civil engineering and 10 years experience in the field of design and supervision of construction in a public sector organisation can apply. Candidates can submit their applications to the chief engineer, LDA, by July 7, 2012. LDA has also has invited tenders for renting out premises of canteens in six schools being run by it.
