ISLAMABAD: To promote economic activities in the city, the government is auctioning commercial plots in Blue Area and other busy commercial centres in a transparent manner to make Islamabad a business hub. The government is upgrading various trade centres and small markets in the federal capital. PM’s Chief Coordinator Faisal Sakhi Butt said this during his meeting with the representatives of the I8 Markaz trader community on Tuesday.
Butt said the government was also taking all-out measures to resolve the issues of traders on priority. In his address, he said that he himself belonged to a business family and his elders played a pivotal role in structuring Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He said he knew better how to resolve the issues and problems of the trader community.
Despite the difficulties, Butt said, the trader community had played a positive role to promote business activities in Islamabad. He said that extension of Blue Area would further promote economic activity in the city. He said that due to reduction in oil prices in the international market, the government has trickled down its impact to consumers.
He said the energy crisis was inherited by the Zardari regime. “But our government is working on a comprehensive plan to cope with the [energy] crisis.” He greeted the newly elected representatives of the I8 Markaz Traders Association and said that he would continue working for the welfare of the traders.
