CM gives away 1,296 flats to labourers

LAHORE: As a gift to labourers on May Day, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has distributed the keys of 1,296 flats among labourers at the Labour Colony on Defence Road.
Addressing the distribution ceremony, the CM said that the PML-N had made history by giving away houses to labourers.

He said that given the opportunity, the party would build houses for workers and labourers across the country so that they could prosper and work harder for the progress of Pakistan.
He said that the construction of hospitals, educational institutions and residential colonies for labourers was Nawaz Sharif’s dream, which the Punjab government materialised through this colony.

He said that provision of free residential flats to labourers through transparent balloting in the Labour Colony was an important step towards giving practical shape to dreams of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal.

Congratulating the labourers on getting residential flats, Shahbaz said that the project was an important step towards the journey started by Nawaz Sharif in 1985 for the welfare of labourers.

He said that sports grounds, a school, a hospital and all other basic amenities of life had been provided at the Labour Colony, but the federal government did not provide electricity only for the reason that the PML-N government had built it for labourers.

He warned that if electricity was not provided to the colony within a few days, he would raise voice against PEPCO and LESCO along with labourers.

The labourers paid tribute to the CM for providing shelter to the workers free of cost for the first time in the history of the country.
