ISLAMABAD – Permanent income resources would be tapped to make the Capital Development Authority (CDA) a self-sustainable organisation in line with the modern municipalities of the world. This was stated by the Chairman CDA, Engineer Farkhand Iqbal, while presiding the first meeting of the CDA Board after assuming the charge of the office here on Sunday. According to a press statement issued here, the meeting was attended by the members of the authority’s different administrative wings, wherein the new CDA chief was given a presentation on the working of the organization. The new CDA chairman said that the generation of funds through sustainable development process and attracting the foreign investment would be focused and coordinated efforts would be made to execute the development projects. LAHORE – As Lahore Development Authority referendum draws closer, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has racked up lobbying for sweeping victory of Staff Union headed by party senior leader Sohail Zia Butt, a close cousin of PML-N President Nawaz Sharif. In a step toward wheeling and dealing for Butt leading the staff union in LDA referendum scheduled for December 14, PML-N leadership has entrusted the special task to MNA Hamza Shahbaz Sharif, son of CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif. For a past few days, Hamza had remained engaged with various LDA union leaders to hash out a winning strategy. ISLAMABAD, Dec 2: To pre-empt expected move of the Capital Development
Authority (CDA) to block the sewerage system, five housing societies of sector E-11 prayed to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) through a petition seeking leave to connect their sewerage lines with the main system of the city.
The government has decided to rehabilitate the crumbling Peco Road and handed the Traffic Engineering and Transport Planning Agency (TEPA) the job of doing the first major repairs on the road for over 20 years.
Tepa Director Mazhar Khan said that the agency had already received Rs120 million for the project and would complete the tendering process after the Ashura. “Work on the ground could begin in the first week of the new year,” he said. Continue reading
