ISLAMABAD: Senior Civil Judge Mahmood Haroon on Thursday declared Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Member National Assembly (MNA) Anjum Aqeel Khan’s brother Amir Shahzad Khan absconder in a land dispute with teacher in National Police Foundation (NPF) housing scheme.
Earlier this year on July 25 the MNA had settled the land dispute case against Rs 5 million with a school teacher, Sabahat Ali, but the court did not dismiss the case as as per court observations Khan and his brother were allegedly involved in NPF Rs 6 billion land grabbing scam.
On September 9, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) got non-bailable arrest warrants of the MNA’s brother Shahzad Khan from the said court but Khan’s brother could not be arrested till date. A first information report (FIR) vide 18/11 was register against Shahzad Khan, resident of Golra under section 406, 409, 34 PPC r/w 5(11) 47 PCA with FIA Crime Circle.
The MNA, with the help of his brother, had sold a plot numbered 834 measuring 25X60 feet located on Double Road in sector E-11 to a schoolteacher and received Rs 0.95 million from him. The payment of said plot was paid to Khan’s brother. Later on, the plot shown by the MNA at the time of payment was replaced by another one, lying in the disputed area between the MNA and NPF.
Shahzad Khan played a pivotal role in NPF land scam through purchasing and selling of plots under the supervision of his brother.
On Thursday the FIA, in application pointed out that during the period from 1997 to 2003, the NPF management inked an agreements dated November 1997, 1998, 2001, 2003 with the MNA and his brother’s firm Land Linkers (Unregistered Firm) for the purchase of land at the cost of Rs 0.5 million and Rs 0.8 million per kanal. Whereby Land Linkers purchased land from different owners and obtained agreement of sale as well as power of attorney in the name of the then Additional Director Abdul Hannan.
M/s Land Linkers received payment in advance of 608 kanal while CDA transferred only 563 kanal thereby M/s Land Linkers with the connivance of different officers’ who misappropriated the NPF’s huge amount.
Moreover, the MNA and his brother submitted three requests dated 16-05-2002, 25-08-2003 and 29-04-2004 for affiliation of land measuring 75 kanal, 60 kanal and 50 kanal of land respectively for NPF Housing Scheme E-11, Islamabad.
On Thursday Senior Civil Judge in his order marked that FIA requested for issuance of proclaim offender of accused Shahzad Khan under section 87 of CrPC. “The FIA reported that the accused avoiding his arrest and his arrest is not possible in near future, so the court declared Shahzad Khan as absconder,” senior civil judge marked in his order.
