KOHAT, Sept 21: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to sell 58,225 acres of land in Jarma area of Kohat to its present occupants living illegally there since 1970 and the formal notification in this regard will be issued soon, said MPA Iqbal Din Fana while speaking at a public meeting at Jarma village here on Wednesday.

The MPA, who is also chairman of district development advisory committee, Kohat, said that he had contested the 2008 elections despite the boycott by his Jamaat-i-Islami party to resolve the problems of people of his PF-39 constituency.

He said that getting the land ownership rights for the people of Jarma was on his priority list, as the people had convinced him on contesting the polls for raising voice for their rights.

The land was first leased out by the British rulers to the local Banoori family in 1886 and then the lease was renewed several times for agriculture purpose between 1953 and 1973. However, since 1973 the lease had not been renewed by any government. Read more

MANSEHRA, Sept 21: The district and sessions judge here has ordered the anti-corruption establishment to arrest six people, including three officials of the revenue department, for illegal transfer of over 10 kanals in Shinkiary.

The judge ordered the arrest of Girdawar Mubarik Khan, Patwari Zaheer Ahmad and steno Mohammad Javed, all officials of the revenue department, buyers of the land Gul Afzal Khan and Mohammad Tariq and a witness to the deal Laiq Mohammad Khan. The investigation of the case was launched three months ago on the orders of Peshawar High Court Chief Justice of Ejaz Afzal Khan when the land owner approached it. Read more

LAHORE:  The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) will hold the first auction of properties at its Finance and Trade Centre (FTC) in Johar Town on September 10. LDA officials expect to generate around Rs2.5 billion from the first auction, and Rs12 billion overall.

Talking to The Express Tribune, an LDA official said that the decision to construct the centre was taken earlier this year after the chief minister directed the LDA to generate revenue for development projects in the city. “At this point, we cannot predict anything about the future of business or revenue from FTC as economic activities throughout the country are at a low.” The Punjab government had allocated Rs500 million in the 2011-2012 budget for the FTC. LARKANA, Sept 7: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) police, Qambar, on Wednesday arrested district officer (revenue) Qambar-Shahdadkot Khadim Hussian Kutrio and a supervising tapedar Ghulam Qadir Dasti on charges of disposing of state land on the basis of bogus entries.

The Circle Officer of ACE Qambar-Shahdadkot, Shahid Hussain Shahani, told Dawn that the district officer (revenue) was arrested near Wagan Chowk, Qambar, while the supervising tapedar was picked-up from the muhktiarkar office, Shahdadkot. Read more

KARACHI, Sept 7: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Wednesday said that an integrated system of computerised land record would ensure keeping clear land titles for all land owners in Sindh.

While inaugurating a land record computerisation project at the Revenue House, Shireen Jinnah Colony, the chief minister said it was encouraging that the Sindh government had successfully completed the pilot phase of computerisation of land revenue records, becoming the first provincial government to accomplish this task. KARACHI, Sept 7: District Coordination Officer Karachi Muhammad Hussain Syed said on Wednesday that the city government was planning to relocate families living in dilapidated buildings.

“Initially we are considering shifting 63 families living in dangerous declared buildings to a nearby location,” he said while visiting decrepit buildings in Narianpura.

The buildings include the Gazdarabad General Hospital and Maternity Home, nursing residential Block 1.—PPI Read more

LAHORE, Sept 8: The Punjab cabinet on Thursday withdrew discretionary quota of the governor regarding the allotment of land to people, and once again doubled the rates of fines over traffic violations, official sources said.

The decisions were taken while approving amendments to the Disposal of Land by Developing Authorities (Regulations) Act and the Motor Vehicle Ordinance.

Sources said Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif who presided over the meeting rejected a proposal by the law department to start using the discretionary quota of allotment of lands being withdrawn from the governor.

PESHAWAR, Sept 6: The dissident leader of ANP Khwaja Mohammad Khan Hoti has claimed that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government plans to sell costly land of Charsadda Paper Mills at throwaway price to get heavy commissions.

He said the land, measuring 250 acres, had basically been acquired for industrial purposes and its current market rate was Rs9 billion while the government had planned to sell it at Rs1.47 billion to one of its front men belonging to Mardan to earn at least Rs8 billion as commission.
